According to Palkivala tax is the price you pay for living in a civilized society. Is it true if we look at the Indian scenario? We in India part with a substantial portion of our hard earned income in the form of taxes. While the tax payers money is deemed to be a contribution to the nation's development, I wonder if it is really the case. Stalwarts like Raja and Kanimozhi as well as ace politicians in combination with the bureaucrats have swindled the tax payers money and placed them in Swiss Banks.

Very good question, but do we have to? I meant do "we all" have to? If you are Sachin Tendulkar or Amitabh Bachchan then it is not so necessary in India, at least you need not pay a large part of it and still get nominated for Bharat Ratna. A cricketer who earns in millions does not have to pay his tax on Ferarri. Amitabh Bachchan is my role model when it comes to fudging of taxes. He goes bankrupt today and the next day he becomes a crorepati, today he is a farmer, tomorrow a cultural ambassador. He is not keeping well these days and I request Sonia ji not to delay the Bharat Ratna on him as it will be a sad day for India if the award goes to him posthumous.
