It is sin to keep a dog or any animal on a short leash for long periods without food, water and shelter. The Prophet (sallal lahu alayhi wasallam) is reported to have stated that a woman is doomed to enter Hell because of a cat "which she neither fed nor let it eat from the vermin of earth."

@Jam - do you think a prize dog brought to a dog show will be kept for long period without food and water? Can't you think in a normal way like common human beings? I am about to draw a conclusion from your behavior that too much reading of Koran or ay religious text is dangerous for mental health!
